Newslettery-ish Newsletter and...This Week in Yoga! 7.13.22

Hello yogi friend,
It's the middle of July and (sadly for many) halfway through the summer. I know a lot of you have been busy making up for the lost years of Covid and getting after all the plans to go, do & see that you had to put on hold.
I'm here to encourage you to still make time to meet up with your lonely yoga mat 😊🧘
Below are some articles from The Blog, and news of upcoming classes & courses to encourage you.
These classes will be 45 minutes in length and will be a well-balanced yoga practice to set you up nicely for your day. The structure will be about 35-40 minutes of yoga and a 5 minute mindfulness meditation moment. To learn more and to register, click HERE.
On the "Classes" page of our website is the updated info about the workshops that will be coming up. Not just a list anymore but all the deets! Go HERE to check them out.
The dates for the workshops are not yet set as I'm well aware of everyone's passion to be out & about this summer. Can't say I blame ya - I'm doing the same thing. I turned 60 last August and my plan for my birthday year was to go to places and see people who mean a lot to me. Then, there was a covid surge and I had to put my plans on hold & wait it out a bit knowing it wouldn't be forever.
And I'm at it! I've seen some beautiful places and reconnected, in some cases, with some long time friends but I'm not done yet! So you will likely see me teaching yoga from different spots in the U.S. over the next bunch of months.
But that's the beautiful thing about yoga - it goes where you go. I have a travel mat and I can always find ways to create homemade versions of the props I have in my home studio. I travel light!
Hope to see YOU...on the mat,
Karen
In a yoga class or when following along to a video, it's far too easy to compare ourselves to others, to think there's a right or wrong way to do a given yoga pose and to try to get our bodies into shapes that they don't like or could cause injury. The reality is, no two bodies are alike and no two bodies move in the exact same ways. Therefore - YOUR body, YOUR yoga....(click on title to read more)

The word "self-care" has been hijacked by marketers looking to capitalize on a new trend. But self-care shouldn't be a trend, it should be an every day, every week, every month practice. So, let’s change the words around a bit to give it a little more meaning.

According to Jason Silva, creator of the YouTube documentary Shots of Awe , awe is "seeing the whole world with new eyes". He refers to these everyday moments of awareness as "cognitive ecstasy", which can come from anything that "stirs your soul". Yoga poses have three distinct stages, just as every story has a beginning, middle and end, and every day has a morning, afternoon and night.
Transitions in yoga—and life—can be choppy, unstable and erratic. As yoga practitioners this is good news because it gives us something to practice!
"Transitions between poses are the most difficult times to stay focused and mindful. They are the times when people often get hurt." Coleen Saidman Yee
Let's explore yoga transitions within a fun yoga practice!
