This definition is from the World Health Organization:

The process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables well-being and older age.

  • It's being able to do what you want to do and remain independent. It's also going and making yourself a pot of coffee and walking across the room with a cup of hot coffee and not falling.

  • It's being able to talk to, communicate with, and have great relationships in your life. Learning, growing, making decisions throughout the rest of our lives. Being mobile, being able to go where we want to go, to walk around our gardens or to walk around our neighborhoods or to go hiking on a mountain.

  • It's being able to continue to build and maintain relationships and participate in and contribute to society.
