Stress...RESILIENCE!

The benefits of stress resilience include:

  • improved mental health by reducing the risk of anxiety and depression,

  • better physical health by potentially lowering blood pressure and disease risk

  • enhanced emotional well-being through increased happiness and positivity

  • stronger relationships due to greater empathy and compassion

  • improved problem-solving skills by fostering clear and creative thinking under pressure.

Cultivating resilience allows you to bounce back from adversity, adapt to challenges, and maintain a sense of control

Enter YOGA.

Yoga offers a multifaceted approach to improving stress resilience through its unique combination of:

  •       Physical postures (asana)

  •       Breath exercises (pranayama)

  •       Meditation (mindfulness practices)

As we get older, we often face increased stressors related to our health, social changes, or simply daily challenges.

Many of us are worried about and/or taking care of aging parents, we continue to worry about the well-being of our adult children and perhaps grandchildren, relationships (of all kinds) may be coming to an end, our careers are either winding down or have recently ended.

There’s a lot of conversation about “what’s next?” and “how do I stay healthy to really enjoy this part of my life I’ve worked so hard to get to?”

When you think of “empowered” you may think about strength. And yes, that’s true – physical strength. But there are all kinds of strength.

Here is how yoga empowers stress resilience:

Regulation of the nervous system - One of the most profound ways yoga enhances stress resilience is by directly influencing the autonomic nervous system, which controls involuntary bodily functions such as heart rate, breath, digestion, etc., and plays a central role in the stress response.

Enhanced emotional regulation – Yoga cultivates a greater awareness of one’s internal state, including emotions. This self- awareness is a cornerstone of emotional regulation.
